G.D. Praetorius

is that seemingly staid dad next door. But behind those bottle-thick lenses he’s seen some wild stuff…

His debut book, Babysitting A Band On The Rocks — chronicling his time onstage and off with classic rock icons Aerosmith, AC/DC, Van Halen, & more — is available now.

Growing up on Long Island, just a bike ride from New York City, G.D. Praetorius has always been eager to dive in headfirst, managing to survive and thrive with every new adventure. A local “landscape specialist” in his tweens charming Hamptons housewives. Living the good life as a lifeguard and itinerant surfer in the 70s. Corporate careers as an advertising and marketing executive. But for his first book he returned to his first love: Music.

From the moment as a six-year-old that he saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, G.D. knew that he had to be part of the action. After coming to grips with the fact that he had no musical talent of his own, he got involved in the production of almost 200 rock shows with some of the classic era’s biggest stars. Even after leaving the business, Gregg continued to have rock encounters worth recounting. Babysitting A Band On The Rocks tells those tales.

“The man’s innate skill as a wordsmith makes the content sizzle!”
